I Do Believe: Because He Lives, I Flow

I Do Believe: Because He Lives, I Flow
On this resurrection Sunday, we celebrate not just an event, but a living reality that transforms how we experience life. The empty tomb isn't just history - it's the foundation for a life of overflow and purpose.
What Does It Mean to Truly Believe?
In John 7:38, Jesus declares: "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water" - John 7:38 King James Version (KJV). This isn't about casual agreement or religious attendance. This is about  life-changing belief that produces supernatural flow.
Many people today believe in everything - conspiracy theories, social media influencers, trending philosophies, even self-made spirituality. But Jesus calls for a belief that shapes our decisions, anchors our identity, and directs our behavior.
Why Belief Matters More Than Agreement
There's a difference between believing something and being aligned with it. You can agree that a car needs proper alignment, but if your car is misaligned, it will veer left or right, no matter what you believe about alignment. The same is true spiritually.
James 2:17 reminds us that "faith without works is dead" - James 2:17 King James Version (KJV). True belief aligns our entire life with Christ, not just our Sunday confession.
How Does the Resurrection Activate Our Flow?
The resurrection didn't just raise Jesus - it raised our inner life. The same Spirit that rolled the stone away now lives in believers. This means the empty tomb declares that you don't have to live empty, drained, or spiritually dehydrated.
What Flows When We Believe?
When resurrection life is activated in us, several things begin to flow:
  • Peace flows in chaos
  • Strength flows in weakness
  • Joy flows in sorrow
  • Hope flows in despair
  • Worship flows in weariness
This joy isn't dependent on circumstances, positions, or other people's opinions. As the scripture teaches, "greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" - 1 John 4:4 King James Version (KJV).
Is the Flow Just for Me or Through Me?
The scripture speaks of "rivers" - plural - of living water. This indicates that resurrection life is meant to spread, not stay contained. Rivers don't remain stagnant; they flow into other bodies of water, eventually reaching oceans and connecting across the world.
How Do We Become Walking River Systems?
Jesus didn't rise just to save us - He rose to send us. Believers aren't meant to be reservoirs that simply hold water. We're designed to be rivers that flow into dry places around us.
In a world full of anxiety, depression, division, and loneliness, God is raising up believers who will carry living water into dry places. Everyone has circles of influence where people are watching, even when we don't realize it.
What Evidence Do We Have That Our Belief Is Real?
The resurrection provides concrete evidence that our faith isn't built on feelings but on facts. The stone was rolled away. The tomb is empty. Death was defeated. Jesus is alive.
Easter is God saying that our belief is not misplaced. Because He lives, we can believe again, trust again, hope again, dream again, and rise again.
How Should This Change Our Daily Lives?
When we truly believe, several questions become important:
  • Does my belief change how I respond to pressure?
  • Does my belief shape how I treat people?
  • Does my belief influence my choices when no one is watching?
Belief isn't proven by what we say in church, but by how we live when the service is over.
Can We Live Every Day Like Jesus Just Rose?
Too many believers seem down, joyless, and lacking the celebratory spirit that should characterize resurrection life. But we're called to live abundantly - not as slaves to circumstances, but as people who have been set free.
The scripture promises: "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" - John 10:10 King James Version (KJV).
What Does Abundant Life Look Like?
Abundant life means:
  • Finding reasons to celebrate God daily
  • Looking for what's right instead of what's wrong
  • Carrying encouragement to others
  • Living with hope regardless of circumstances
  • Maintaining joy that the world didn't give and can't take away
Life Application
This week, challenge yourself to live as a walking river system of God's grace. Instead of focusing on what's wrong in your life or the world around you, intentionally look for evidence of God's goodness and share that with others.
Ask yourself these questions:
  • Am I aligned with God's word, or just agreeing with it?
  • How do I respond when pressure comes - do I still believe the same way?
  • Who in my circle of influence needs to experience the living water that flows through me?
  • Am I living like someone who serves a risen Savior, or like someone who's defeated?
Remember: because He lives, you can declare it, receive it, walk in it, share it, and celebrate it every single day. The resurrection isn't just an event we remember - it's a lifestyle of overflow that transforms not only our lives but the lives of everyone around us.
